29 and counting

Posted in General at 8:17 pm by royalempress

Yesterday made 29 years that I have existed on this earth.

That doesn’t look like the same person. Does it?? Anywho….

Big balloons, a huge cake, flowers, cards, plants, candy, and even a gift card for a craft store made me feel truly appreciated by my co-workers/friends and family. I held back the tears and managed to say “thank you sooo much” with out boo hooing. I’m proud of myself lol!

I give special thanks to HIM for surrounding me with love and bringing me this far. I especially thank him for her.

She has given my life meaning and worth. Although she is not my maternal child, I care for her, love her and look after her as my own. I look forward to being here for her 29th birthday πŸ™‚

I also pray I have many more happy and prosperous years of knitting πŸ˜€

Crafting will commence after the celebration (yes I’m celebrating all week since that’s what grown folks do *wink*).

The Purple Wonder

Posted in Needlework at 8:53 pm by royalempress

For the Chinese New Year, my family and I went to Chinatown in Chicago. Hubby was kind enough to take me to Nina. I had to purchase something since the store was set up so nicely and the owner was very pleasant. Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Wool in Purple Club was the winner. I stared at it for a while and then it hit me… The One Skein Wonder with a few ideas from Glampyre’s Fitted Knits’ pattern, Two Tone Ribbed Shrug.

I used Patton’s Brilliant in “Prettiest Plum” to give it a little sparkle. I’m so proud of myself (you can see that from the pictures). I even have bags under my eyes to show that I was determined to finish it so I could wear it on my trip to NYC last weekend. Oh the purple, how it shines and glimmers and all that purddy stuff πŸ™‚ Simply stunning! Now I have to get started on my bikini made from elastic and Paton’s Brilliant in gold and black. Woo woo!

Many Thanks

“Of all possessions, a friend is the most precious.” -Herodotus

This is a card I made for a co-worker who has been gracious enough to lend me her listening ear and for that, I’m thankful.

We all go through our rough patches and managed to come out stronger. While going through my own difficult times, I’ve realized there is nothing like good friends and family to have around. They keep me grounded when I have wreckless thoughts. They tell me right from wrong even though they know I am fully aware of what I should do. They let me know I am loved. They embrace me with positive vibes and warm hugs. Most of all, I can depend on them no matter what. I want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who is there for me in my time of need.
