Allow me to re-introduce myself….I am 27yr old proud participant of the SKP 5. Here are a few things you may need to know about me:

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?

As I have come to know and love various fibers, I have grown to dislike acrylic. However, there are exceptions to the rule like TLC’s Lustre, Caron’s Soft Brites and Lion Brand’s Velvet Spun. I have my moments when I break down and use these type of yarns.

2. Do you spin? Crochet?

I haven’t spun but would like to learn how to one day. Crochet is my first love and that will never change 😀

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)

None. Can you believe it?

4. How long have you been knitting?

4yrs and counting.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

I’m working on it. I’ll e-mail you to let you know when it is available.

6. What’s your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)

I like fresh scents. I’ve never been the fruity or flowery type

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?

I love milk chocolate but lately, I’ve been trying to cut back on the sweets 😦

8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?

I’ve been making stitch markers and I’m in the process of learning how to sew.

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like r&b, alternative, reggae, indian, arabic, japanese pop and hip hop music. I’m pretty open.

10. What’s your favorite color? Or–do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can’t stand?

I like purples, blues, greens, all earthtones and I have a love hate relationship with pink. I can’t stand the shade of pepto bismo stomach medicine(sp). Yuck!

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

I have a few fish, a 4 yr old step daugther and a wonderful husband.

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)

I would like to open my own yarn/book store. I would also like to teach all ages how to crochet and knit from elementry to college students.

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?

I’ll try to keep this as short as possible (ha!)…I like all types of Noro, Rowan, Classic Elite, Cascade, Kouigu, Trendsetter and last but not least, Brown Sheep yarns.

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

Very scratchy wool and alpaca and mohair that sheds. Blah!

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?

Learning about different types of fabrics, experimenting with colors and patterns and knitting for babies 🙂

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

Quick, easy and painless knits like sweaters, hats and anything else that will not take 6 months to a year. Lately, I’ve been enjoying knitting for babies since it seems like everyone around me is having one.

17. What are you knitting right now?

I’m working on 2 baby sweaters and a baby blankie.

18. What do you think about ponchos?

If done right, it can be stylish. If done wrong, it can look like the same ol’ same ol’.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?

I like them both depending on the project. I must say, Addi Turbo circs are awesome!

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

Bamboo is good for silky yarns where as aluminum is good for wool and cottons. I’m not big on plastic.

21. Are you a sock knitter?P,>
I’m still working on my first pair. They’ve alwasy seem to take back seat to other projects.

22. How did you learn to knit?

A nice lady showed me how to cast on when I was 13. I’ve been building on that knowledge since.

23. How old is your oldest UFO?

Those same pair of socks…maybe about 1 1/2yrs old *sigh*.

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?

All types of feline animals and butterflies.

25. What is your favorite holiday?

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

None. I buy them on a need to know basis. One day I’ll break down and subscribe to Vogue, Interweave Knits or Knit 1.

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?

I absolutely love japanese patterns. I really need a translator most of the time but I like them anyway. My amazon wish list will have a few wanted books.

Well SKP, now that you know my business, I look forward to hearing from you 😀 Thanks in advance!!!

It’s been a long time…

1: The Honeymooners

Our 7 day honeymoon cruise was absolutely fabulous!! I loooooooved every minute of it and would do it all over again!! My husband picked out an excursion for each island except Barbados (we hung out with my grandmother who lives there). We visted Dominica, Aruba, St. Thomas, Barbados, Puerto Rico. My favorite was the twin falls in Dominica. We literally had to rock climb to get to the second (twin) fall. I almost had a heart attack when I realized there was nothing preventing me fron falling off the side of the cliff and into the deepest, greenest parts of the rain forest, but I pulled through it. It was beautiful. Have a look:

How beautiful is that??

I also like Aruba. The people come in all shades and they speak about 3 languages, spanish, english and their own dialect (sorry I forgot what it’s called). They have an area where there are nothing but rocks. The people there stack the rocks and make a wish. My hubby made his own wish rock:

I wonder what he wished for…

I also looooooooved the rainforest, El Yunque, in Puerto Rico.

I can’t forget the beautiful scenes in St. Thomas.

If you would like to see more, click here.

All in all, it was really and truly beautiful. This is our second cruise and I can’t wait until our next cruise. Hopefully it’ll be to Alaska 😀

2:Jury Duty

So I was called for jury duty right after returning from my honeymoon. After 4 days of questioning, I was not picked. In a way I’m glad since I really didn’t want to be the judge of some of those cases. Just my luck, I’ll get called again. The judicial system is a rather interesting one. It was cool to see how it works up close and personal instead of watching it on Law & Order.

3:Three Boys and counting

So far out of the 6 people I know that are pregnant or just had a baby, 3 of them are boys. That means all the pretty, girly colored yarn I own is of no use. I had to do a little digging and so far I’ve been workting with Classic Elite’s Spotlight. I’ll post a pic of the project soon.

I also found a wonderfully soft yarn called Velvet Spun by Lion Brand. Yes, I am a yarn snob and I don’t use Lion Brand if I can help it, but this yarn is ridiculously soft!!! I’m even considering buying it by the bag to make myself a throw. You should try it!!

I’m very please to say that I’ve managed to squeeze into Pinku’s Swap 3. Thanks Pinku 🙂 I also joined Secret Knitting Pal 5. I’ve taken part in 3 of them so far so this will be blast. I think this time I’m going to actually make a gift for my partner, if the time permits me to.

Ok ladies and gents, that’s all for now. As always, I promise to try my best to post more often. In real life, I don’t have all the time in the world to blog. Until then…
